Man arrested for making threats toward deputy on Facebook

Posted: Updated:

HAMILTON COUNTY (WRCB) - A Facebook comment landed one man behind bars.

William Heath Skiles was arrested after Hamilton County investigators say he wrote that he intended to kill a Hamilton County deputy or any law enforcement officer who wanted to cross him.

According to spokesperson for the department, Janice Atkinson, Skiles' post was in retaliation to a traffic stop that led to his wife being given a misdemeanor citation.

Atkinson says Skiles' Facebook page also contained several anti-government comments. She says the department was made aware of the comments and launched an investigation.

He was charged with retaliation for past actions and is being held at the county jail on a $175,000 bond.
