Georgia lawmaker pushing for online privacy for workers

Posted: Updated:

(WRCB) - A Georgia lawmaker is pushing a bill to protect the online privacy of workers.

The proposal would make it illegal for employers to request social media passwords from their employees.

If passed, Georgia would join about six other states that have similar laws.

Two U.S. Senators also plan to take the issue to the Department of Justice and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to ask if the practice violates federal law.
