Bradley Central girls beat rival Cleveland for district title

Bradley Central 52, Cleveland 43
Brooke Copeland and Rebecca Reuter combined for 33 points and 27 rebounds to help Bradley Central pull away in the second half for a 52-43 win at rival Cleveland in the championship game of the District 5-AAA tournament.

Copeland had 19 points and Reuter added 14 as the third-ranked Bearettes beat the Lady Raiders for the third time this season. It's the third straight 5-AAA tourney title, as well, for Bradley Central.

Both teams advance to host region quarterfinal games this Friday. The Bearettes (25-2) will host Cumberland County, while the Lady Raiders (18-9) will welcome White County.

The game was tied at 28 at the half, but Cleveland mustered just 15 points after the break. They still trailed by just one, 37-36, with five minutes to play, but Bradley Central used a 10-2 run over the next four minutes to put the game away.

Sydnie Anderson led Cleveland with 16 points, while Qetuwrah Abdullah-Muhammed added 11.

McMinn County beat Walker Valley 44-39 in the 5-AAA consolation game earlier Monday. The Lady Cherokees will travel to Coffee County on Friday, and Walker Valley will play at district 6-AAA champ Cookeville.
