CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Lightning didn't strike twice for Grundy County basketball this week at Notre Dame.

Two nights after the Yellow Jacket boys stunned the heavily-favored host Irish, the Grundy girls could not repeat the feat.

The Lady Irish opened a double-digit first-quarter lead and never looked back, cruising to a 44-28 win to advance into the championship game of the District 7-AA Tournament.

They'll face top-seeded Bledsoe County Monday at 8 p.m. ET at Sequatchie County High. The Lady Warriors beat Chattanooga Christian in Thursday's other semifinal.

All four teams who played Thursday night advance to next week's region tournament.

Molly Gadd led Notre Dame with 13 points. She scored six in the first quarter as the Lady Irish built a 12-2 lead. Grundy's only basket of the opening period came from Kristen Hill in the final minute.

Peyton Eads led the Jackets with seven points.
