Grimes one of three locals selected for TSSAA Hall of Fame
Former Marion County coach and principal Johnny Grimes is a member of the TSSAA Hall of Fame Class of 2013.
Harrison residents Mike and Karen Parker are members of the TSSAA Hall of Fame Class of 2013.
HERMITAGE, Tenn. (WRCB) -- Former Marion County principal Johnny Grimes and Harrison residents Mike and Karen Parker are among twelve newly selected members of the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletics Association Hall of Fame.
The trio will be part of a group of 21 individuals in the Class of 2013 that will be inducted at a ceremony at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Murfreesboro on Saturday, April 20.
Grimes is one of three administrators in the group, while the Parkers were selected as the annual recipient in the "contributor" category.
The rest of the class includes five coaches and three officials. They are as follows:
-- Fred Kessler, administrator from Bolivar -- Dan Schlafer, administrator from Fairfield Glade -- Wes Elrod, coach from Lebanon -- Sammy Fisher, coach from Decaturville -- Jack Harlow, coach from McMinnville -- Sherry Hooks, coach from Kingsport -- David Russell, coach from Bradford -- Dorris Armstrong, official from Nashville -- Larry Hutchinson, official from Mountain City -- Susan Williamson, official from Knoxville
The TSSAA Hall of Fame started inducting members in 1982. This year's annual luncheon will start at 11 a.m. CT to honor the new inductees and their families, as well as all past honorees.
Tickets to the event will go on sale on Monday, March 4 at TSSAA.org and must be purchased in advance.
