Gas prices inch upward

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- The American Automobile Association's weekly gas price report shows what most drivers have noticed for several weeks: gas prices are headed up - again.

Winter weather in the northeast and growth in China, combined with the seasonal switch to a summer blend of fuel, have helped nudge prices upward.

In 2012, gas prices peaked in April, and 2013 appears to be following similar pattern, but overall prices may be lower than last years at the same point in time.

The good news is that after April, gas prices should slowly drop, unless an unforeseen event has an impact on fuel prices.

Currently, the national average price of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.58, 7 cents more than last week.

Georgia's average of $3.47 rose 2 cents and Tennessee's average of $3.35 increased 4 cents from last week, respectively.
