Update: body found inside burned duplex on Wilcox Blvd.

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB)  --  Just before 6 a.m. Thursday the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a duplex fire in the 18 hundred block of Wilcox Blvd.

"When the fire fighters arrived flames were pouring out of the front window," says Chattanooga Fire spokesperson Bruce Garner.

It took crews less than 15 minutes to put out the flames, that's when fire fighters made an unfortunate discovery. "They found an adult male deceased on the floor of the kitchen," Garner says.

Neighbors tell Channel 3 they heard loud fighting inside the duplex around 3 a.m. They believe the fire was set after that fight.

"Somebody got beat up and drug in the house and the house got burned down or something like that," says one resident.

Neighbors say the man who lived in the duplex went by the name "Tank". "Just a person in the neighborhood, that's all I know," says another man.

Residents are hesitant to open up about what happened but they say one death on their street is one too many. "I wish there was something somebody could've did to help him," says a neighbor.

The cause of death and the fire are under investigation by the Chattanooga Police Department and the Chattanooga Fire Department.
