Scattered showers today

Posted: Updated:

(WRCB) - Looking for a good investment?  Umbrella stock might be a good choice.

Low pressure moving by to our south will push some light rain showers into the area through the day and into tonight.

A cold front will press through tonight into Friday morning, keeping the chance of light showers in the forecast until Friday afternoon.  By then, the front will have moved through, and it will dry us out and cool us down heading into Friday night.  Lows by Saturday morning will have dropped into the upper 20s and low 30s.

The cool down will be very short lived as highs Saturday are going to climb into the upper 50s with lots of sun through the day.

Sunday should be overall a nice day, but another front will press in late in the day, bringing some heavy rain and thunderstorms Sunday night into Monday.

Some showers and storms may redevelop today as a cold front passes through the Tennessee Valley. But don't worry too much, they aren't expected to be widespread or become severe.

Several things are coming together to increase our chances for some severe weather later today.  A warm, humid air mass will interact with unseasonably cool air that will be pushing through today and tomorrow.

We will continue a warm, muggy pattern with highs reaching about 90 degrees.  The heat and humidity will combine with a trough of low pressure to produce one or two thunderstorms.
