ATHENS, Ga. (WRCB) -- The most interesting National Signing Day storyline at the University of Georgia may not involve a player.
On the eve of receiving signed letters of intent from future Bulldogs, reports surfaced Tuesday night that UGA defensive coordinator Todd Grantham is scheduled to interview for the same position with the NFL's New Orleans Saints.
The New Orleans Time-Picayune was first to report the upcoming meeting with Grantham, then followed with a report that Rob Ryan will also interview for the job Friday. ESPN's Adam Schefter said Tuesday night the Saints are leaning towards Ryan.
While it may be the first time this offseason Grantham actually interviews, it's not the first time his name has surfaced in NFL circles. Grantham has long been mentioned as a possible candidate for the vacant Eagles defensive coordinator position, which has yet to be filled by new head coach Chip Kelly.
Grantham, who was defensive coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys before coming to UGA, is scheduled to appear with Mark Richt at a press conference Wednesday afternoon to discuss Georgia's 2013 signing class.
