Northwest Whitfield 78, LaFayette 55
Tanner Quarles poured in 21 points and Northwest Whitfield stayed unbeaten in sub-region play with a 78-55 win over visiting LaFayette Tuesday night.

The Bruins improve to 16-3 overall and 6-0 in Region 7B-AAAA. They now have a two-game lead over Dalton and Heritage in the standings.

It was the second straight 21-point game for Quarles, who scored all of his points on seven 3-pointers. In last week's win over Ridgeland, the sharp-shooting guard netted 21 points with the aid of five 3-point shots.

O'Shea Hill also finished in double figures for the Bruins and sparked an early run with big blocks on the defensive end.

After falling into an early seven-point hole, LaFayette battled back to take the lead late in the third quarter, but Quarles caught fire in the second half to blow the game open.

Heritage 67, Dalton 60
Jacob Carter scored 15 points, including and made a key bucket off a steal in the final minute to help the Generals beat visiting Dalton 67-60 Tuesday night.

The win pulls Heritage (10-9, 4-2 in 7B-AAAA) into a tie with the Catamounts (14-5, 4-2) for second-place in the region behind unbeaten Northwest Whitfield.

Both teams entered the double bonus early in the second half, and the Generals used free throws to take the lead early in the fourth quarter.

Heritage was able to push the advantage to six three minutes to play, but three-point plays from Demond Rucker and Rico Mears kept Dalton's hopes alive.

Dalton had the ball down three with 20 seconds to play, but Brandon Painter tripped and Carter corralled the steal and scored on an easy layup for a five-point advantage. The Catamounts were called for a technical foul, their second in the final three minutes, giving the Generals two free throws to seal the win.

Cameron Sherlin scored 15 points to share team-high honors with Carter. Cody Sanders was also in double figures with 14 points.

Rucker led the Catamounts with 20 points, while Painter added 15 and  Means finished with 13.
