UTC's Steven Fox to make PGA Tour debut

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- The U.S. Amateur Championship is the gift that keeps on giving for University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior Steven Fox.

After representing the United States in the World Team Amateur Championships in Turkey and the Copa de las Americas in Miami, Fox will make his PGA Tour debut this week when he tees off Thursday in the opening round of the Farmers Insurance Open at famed Torrey Pines.

Fox traveled West over the weekend and was tweeting pictures from his practice round Monday morning.

His U.S. Amateur title also earns him exemptions into The Masters, the U.S. Open and the British Open later this year.

The Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame named Fox and LPGA Tour rookie Brooke Pancake its athletes of the year on Sunday. The pair will be honored at the organization's annual banquet on February 25.

Fox was also named the Tennessee Golf Association's player of the year for 2012.
