RED BANK, TN. (WRCB) -- Fire destroys a Red Bank home Tuesday night.
It happened in the 200 block of Peace Street, shortly after 6:30 p.m.
Hamilton EMS spokeswoman Amy Maxwell says the homeowner's grandson briefly left a pot of boiling water unattended, only to find the stove engulfed by flames when he returned.
Maxwell says he quickly got his grandmother, 89-year-old Hazel Thompson, out of the house.
Walden's Ridge Emergency Services, the Soddy Daisy Fire Department and Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department help Red Bank firefighters put out the flames.
Maxwell says the fire caused around $125,000 in damages.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
