UPDATE: The victim of Saturday's shooting on Anderson Avenue has been identified as Jeremy Rand, 36, who is now listed in stable condition.

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- A man is shot in the chest on Anderson Avenue Saturday afternoon and now Chattanooga Police are trying to find the shooter.

Chattanooga Police were called to the 2200 block of Anderson Avenue around 3 o'clock only to find a man had been shot while sitting in his car.

"The suspect approached the victim and shot the victim. It wasn't just a random shooting or drive by. He was targeted from some reason," says Nathan Hartwig with the Chattanooga Police Department.

A 36-year-old man was sitting in a black sedan on Anderson Avenue when police say someone shot him in the chest at close range.

"He was taken to a local hospital where he's listed in critical condition. Investigators believe it may be drug related," say Hartwig.

It was not surprising news for Maragitha Huss who lives a block over from where the shooting happened.

"I think people are getting violent. Violent. And they've got nothing to do but killing people. That's what it is," she says.

Huss has lived in the neighborhood for almost 30 years and says things have gone from bad to worse; the sole reason she has her German Shepard 'Lady.'

"These people with the saggy britches. They stand on the corner over there and don't do nothing. They don't work or do nothing. So I'm just wondering how they make a living?"

She says she can not help but shake her head seeing more crime tape in her neighborhood, something police are all too familiar with.

"There are violent crimes that happen in this neighborhood. If that answers your question, yes," says Hartwig.

Huss just wants it to stop.

"I hope and pray that the police takes more interest in this neighborhood, more police people come around here. Because they need it," says Huss.

If anyone has any information of the shooting, you are asked to call the Chattanooga Police Department at (423) 698-2525.
