TWIN CITY, Ga. (WRCB) -- James Brown rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns to lead host Emmanuel County Institute to a 27-10 win over Trion in the quarterfinals of the GHSA Class A Public School playoffs.
Trion (9-3) dominated the time of possession, running more than 35 minutes off the clock, but had just 262 yards of total offense to show for it.
Quarterback Corey Bethune accounted for 190 of them (111 passing, 79 rushing), and tossed Trion's lone touchdown on a seven-yard pass to Scott Lively in the second quarter.
The score gave the Bulldogs a brief 10-7 lead, but ECI marched down the field and regained the advantage on Caleb Pressey's short touchdown pass to Jacoby Boatwright with nine seconds left in the half.
Brown broke loose on an 80-yard touchdown in the third quarter to push the advantage to double digits, then added a two-yard score in the fourth to cap the win.
