UPDATE: Gas leak reported on Broad Street, repairs underway

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- Chattanooga firefighters were called out to 810 Broad Street shortly before 4:00 this afternoon for a possible gas leak.

The leak is on the northbound side of Broad Street between 8th and M.L. King.  Two lanes are blocked and one is open.

Chattanooga Gas' Paul Leath says the contractor was doing scheduled work for the gas company and hit a medium pressure main.

A temporary fix has been made, and crews should have a permanent fix complete by tonight.

Some businesses were evacuated as a precaution, but no customers lost service.
