Red Bank home invasion leads to discovery of "grow house"

RED BANK, TN (WRCB) -– Red Bank police officers responding to a home invasion call on Easton Avenue ended up discovering a sophisticated marijuana "grow house".

Wednesday afternoon around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to an armed robbery call at 3390 Easton Avenue. The victim reported that two black males knocked on the door and when he answered the door, one of the males produced a handgun and demanded money.

When the suspects began to ransack the residence, the victim seized the opportunity to flee to a nearby residence to seek assistance. The neighbor immediately called police.

While officers were securing the crime scene and checking for suspects, a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from the residence. Officers also discovered marijuana stems, growing and planting equipment throughout the residence.

A search warrant was obtained and two grow labs containing approximately twenty large marijuana plants, grow lights and assorted planting material was located in the basement/garage area along with a handgun and two shotguns.

Charges of manufacturing marijuana, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana for resale and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony are pending.

The suspects of the robbery are described as black males with dreadlocks, wearing ski masks, blue long sleeved shirt and blue camouflage pants. Both suspects left the scene in a dark colored SUV.
