Fort Oglethorpe city councilman killed in a car crash

FORT OGLETHORPE, GA (Times Free Press) -- A Fort Oglethorpe city councilman was killed this morning at 8:00 a.m. in a car crash.

Councilman Eddie Stinnett, 67, appears to have had a heart attack before he hit a curb and crashed into a car on Battlefield Parkway, said Fort Oglethorpe Police Chief David Eubanks.

Stinnett was found slumped over in his car and was pronounced dead at the hospital, Eubanks said. His wreck is still under investigation.
