RED BANK, TN (WRCB) - A local church is making Christmas possible for thousands of kids in Africa.  Red Bank Baptist Church packed up 4,000 shoe boxes full of necessities and toys for underprivileged kids as part of Operation Christmas Child.

"Hundreds of people here at red bank have gotten involved and their the ones doing all the work," Pastor Sam Greer said.

"Packing shoe boxes," volunteer Jayden Wilson said.

"Their stats tell us that one out of three come to know Jesus as their Savior," Pastor Greer said.

"This is a way we can share the love of Jesus with kids around the world that don't have the things we take for granted every day," organizer Tonya Greer said.

"We have a lady here that received a box when she was a child," Pastor Greer said.

"It was like my little treasure box. There were lots of things in there. I was amazed. It was so amazing," Romania native Mirela Whaner said, "When I saw those little candies, red and white and fruity and stuff, I'm like oh wow this must be good."

"Happy they will get toys to play with," Wilson said.

"The memory of this box is going to last forever. That's for sure because that's how I feel," Whaner said.
