CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- It only took one to end Chattanooga Christian's season.
After being turned away on a barrage of first-half scoring chances by a stout Chargers' defense, Christ Presbyterian Academy finally found the net on a header by Kara Wegner in the 67th minute to post a 1-0 win in the semifinals of the Class A/AA state soccer tournament Thursday afternoon.
Wegner's goal came off a perfect cross from Lindsey Curtis, who dribbled around a defender before sending it into the box from left of the net.
Wegner provided CPA's biggest defensive play as well, clearing a CCS shot just in front of the net for a non-keeper save with the game still scoreless early in the second half.
Second-ranked CPA advances to play Christian Academy of Knoxville in Saturday's A/AA state championship match. CAK beat White House, 2-0, in Thursday's other semifinal.
Chattanooga Christian ends the season with a 15-5-4 overall mark.
