CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- As residents in the Northeast endure wind and rain from Hurricane Sandy, Georgians are facing a higher risk for dangerous wildfires.
The Georgia Forestry Commission says the dry conditions, mixed with the high winds from the storm, creates a tremendous wildfire hazard.
The commission is recommending that outdoor burning be avoided until conditions improve.
If you plan to build a campfire, make sure it is cool to the touch before leaving it unattended.
