Cut Up for LIfe a success at Chattanooga Market

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - It was a crowded day at the Chattanooga Market, as hundreds of people took advantage of salon and spa treatments, for a good cause.

"Chattanooga Cares" hosted its "Cut Up for Life" event to raise money for local HIV patients.

Several Chattanooga salons volunteered to set up shop at the Pavilion, giving out hair cuts, nail services and massages for $20.

All the money will help HIV patients with living expenses and support services.

Last year, they raised $10,000 but hoped to beat that Sunday.

The total isn't in yet, but organizers say it was a great turnout.

They also offered HIV tests on site, raising awareness that 1 in 4 people don't know they have the disease.
