Nine dead in Tennessee from meningitis outbreak

(WRCB) - The meningitis outbreak has now left 9 people dead in Tennessee.

That is a result of the 69 reported cases statewide from contaminated drugs.

The fungal meningitis linked to steroid shots for back pain is now blamed for nearly 300 cases of illness across 16 states and 23 deaths.

State health officials say the outbreak is tapering off, but the possibility for more dead or new cases still remain.
