Vigil held for Casey Burgiss

Posted: Updated:

SODDY DAISY, HAMILTON CO., TN (WRCB) - It was a tearful candlelight vigil as the victim's mother speaks of the horrors of drug addiction.

Dozens of family and friends gathered outside the Free to Worship Church in Soddy Daisy to pay their respects.

Candles burned as Casey Burgiss' mother talked about her son's troubles and the effect it has on family.

Burgiss's remains were found last week in a cave after a suspect came forward with information.

The family spent nearly three months looking for the 24 year old.

Karen Crawley tearfully says it's important to get help to any family or friends who may have a drug problem.

"I want to tell you, that if this is the life you lead, you don't have to. If this is the life you lead. get out of it. It won't be easy."

One suspect, 19 year old Keith Stewart, has been arrested in Burgiss' murder.

Stewart tells police, he didn't kill Burgiss and three more men were involved.
