School bus stolen. Yes, you read that right.

KNOXVILLE, TN (News Sentinel) -- It's long and bright yellow and bears the words "Jefferson County" and the number 46 on each side. Yes, it's a school bus and it's been stolen.

Jefferson County officers this morning are being told to be on the lookout for a Jefferson County school bus taken through the night from the home of a bus driver, Jefferson County Sheriff G. W. "Bud" McCoig said this morning.

"Our local bus drivers just take the buses home so they can get started early on their routes," the sheriff said.

Robert Ellis on Wednesday afternoon took bus 46 to his residence on R.H. Ellis Road near Dandridge and parked it after finishing his route. McCoig said about 8-9 p.m. Wednesday Ellis heard his dogs barking. Officials suspect that's when the bus was taken.
