Jackson County deputies make multiple arrests
JACKSON COUNTY, AL (WRCB) -- Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriffs Office Narcotics Unit in Northeastern Alabama had a busy Tuesday, arresting a total of five people on a variety of drug-related charges.
Deputies, along with officers from the Section Police Department, conducted a search at a residence off of County Road 749 in Section. As a result of this search, a small amount of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia were located and seized.
Arrested in connection with this investigation were Billy Glenn McBride, 51, and Denise May McBride, 46, who were both charged with Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Both were transported to the Jackson County jail and later released on $1000 bond.
Later on Tuesday, deputies conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on County Road 360 near County Road 58 in the Rosalie Community. During this traffic stop a quantity of Marijuana, Synthetic Marijuana or Spice, and Drug Paraphernalia were located and seized.
The driver of the vehicle, Dana Elizabeth Gant, 32, was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Controlled Substance (Combined), Possession of Controlled Substances (two counts), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Gant was transported to the Jackson County Jail and processed. While being searched at the jail, she was found to be in possession additional amounts of Synthetic Marijuana or Spice, which was hidden on her person.
An additional charge of Promoting Prison Contraband was placed on Gant, who remains in the Jackson County Jail and bond has not yet been set.
And also on Tuesday, deputies teamed with officers from the Stevenson Police Department to stop a vehicle on Alabama Highway 72 near Stevenson, AL. during this traffic stop the driver, Daniel Webster Gentry, 24, was found to have an open container of alcohol and was arrested for violation of the Open Container Law.
During a search of the vehicle 22 Oxycodone pills and 2 Xanax pills were located and seized. The passenger, Stephen Wayne Smith, 45, was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substances (two counts).
Both were transported to the Jackson County Jail and remain at the time of this release. Bond was set at $500 for Gentry and no bond has been set for Smith.
In addition, on Wednesday morning, deputies located and seized 128 marijuana plants which were being grown in a wooded area off of County Road 314 in the Flat Rock Community. The plants ranged from 2 feet to 3 feet tall.
No arrest were made at this time but the investigation is continuing.
