State senate candidate "rapping" for voters
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- A candidate for the Tennessee State Senate is using rap to sway voters.
Andrae McGary released the minute long freestyle Tuesday.
The 33-year-old says he used to be part of a rap group. But critics took to social media, accusing McGary of not taking the election seriously.
McGary says it's no joke.
"This is a language I naturally speak, and I recognize there is a group of voters that have not paid any attention, probably doesn't even know there's an election going on for state senate," McGary tells Channel 3. "They are focused on the presidential race, if that. So this is an opportunity to try to get their attention."
McGary faces Republican Todd Gardenhire.
Gardenhire tells Channel 3, "Mr. McGary has his style, and I have mine. I like mine better."
