Man dies after motorcycle accident on Lee Pike

Posted: Updated:

HAMILTON COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- A motorcyclist died Saturday afternoon after he lost control of his bike and running off the roadway in the 600 block of Lee Pike.

According to Hamilton County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson, deputies were called out to Lee Pike at 6:35 p.m. on a report of an accident.

When traffic investigators arrived on scene, they found that a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Johnny W. Uren had been traveling east bound on Lee Pike.  Apparently, Uren then drifted over the center line going off the roadway on the left side and into a ditch.

The motorcycle continued in the ditch until hitting a culvert, which caused Uren to come off the motorcycle.  The investigation shows that he hit a tree stump that was located on the other side of the culvert.

Uren was transported to Erlanger Hospital by Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services, where he later died in surgery.

The investigation is continuing and being handled by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Traffic Division.
