Stanley Takes The Lead In Bassmaster Weekend Series Divisional Championship

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Anglers from Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri and Indiana are in Chattanooga this weekend at Chester Frost Park for a divisional two- day event of the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series. 

200 anglers and co-anglers from five different divisions of the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series are competing for their share of a $50,000.00 total payout.  Winners of both the angler and co-angler divisions will receive new Triton boats. 

The top 20 anglers and top 20 co-anglers will advance to the National Championship event of the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series.  The winner of this national event will receive $100,000.00 and a position to fish in the Bassmaster Classic. 

Billy  Benedetti, Tournament Director, said "the fishermen say it has been a tough week of practice with TVA dropping the water, but these guys are good anglers and someone is going to catch them ".

Matt R. Stanley from Alexandria, Tennessee leads the first day of this two- day event with 18.89 pounds.  Stanley reported catching most of his fish on the upper- end of the lake running patterns from 2-20 ft. deep. Stanley said "I need the clouds tomorrow to make the big fish bite".

On the co-angler side, Richard Michalski from West Port, Kentucky and Robin K. Phillips from Smithville, Tennessee are tied for first place with 10.84 pounds.

6 - Ronnie Getz, Sunman, IN, 14.74 lbs.
7 - Jason S. Smith, Albany, GA, 14.41 lbs.
8 - Brent Anderson, Kingston Springs, TN, 14.14 lbs.
9 - Steve E. Caudell, Portland, TN, 13.59
10 - Rodney D. Clawson, Old Hickory, TN, 13.57 lbs.

Final weigh-in will start Saturday at 3:30 pm at Chester Frost Park Boat Ramp.
