Beaty and Reese Lead Heartland Anglers Championship

First Place Prize - 2012 Margay Bass Cat valued at $27,000
DAYTON, TN (WRCB) - The Heartland Anglers held day one of their two-day 2012 Divisional Classic Championship on Chickamauga Lake, October 12, 2012, out of Dayton Boat Dock in Richland Creek.
Most look at bass tournaments as a hobby, but the town of Dayton, Tennessee takes events like this very serious.
Tournament Coordinator Dennis Tumlin says, "It takes a team effort from many groups and volunteers from the City of Dayton to make events like this possible."
"These events have an incredible impact for our economy and local business here in Dayton and Rhea County", says City Councilman Gary Louallen.
Two hundred and seventy-five teams coming from 44 divisions across six states were here participate in the event. The top prize in the event will be a 2012 Margay Bass Cat boat valued at $27,000.
"Heartland Anglers is an amateur based team tournament trail designed for the everyday average angler. Heartland Anglers is a team tournament for the type of angler who gets up everyday, heads to work and puts in a 40 hour work week", says Doug Pressley - Heartland Anglers President.
The team of Darrell Beaty and Kenny Reese caught a five-bass limit weighing 19.98 pounds to take the lead on day one of the tournament.
The team of Billy Norris and Josh Norris weighed in the big fish of the tournament on day one with a giant largemouth weighing 7.07 pounds; topping three other fish over six pounds that were weighed in by other anglers.
Top 10 Teams on Day 1: 1st: Darrell Beaty and Kenny Reese with 19.98 lbs. 2nd: Walter Ogle and Grady O'Hara with 18.88 lbs. 3rd: Billy Norris and Josh Norris with 18.17 lbs. 4th: Rodney Campbell and Denton Asher with 17.65 lbs. 5th: Scott Rogers and Casey Scates with 17.35 lbs. 6th: Gary Hurley and Eddie Calbaugh with 16.41 lbs. 7th: Tom Riddle and Charlie Hale with 16.26 lbs. 8th: Brent Tharpe and Brandon Roop with 16.14 lbs. 9th: Andy Wicker and Reid Mcginn with 15.87 lbs. 10th: Chris Burks and Dale Giles with 15.35 lbs.
