Heritage 9, Chamblee Charter 1
RINGGOLD, Ga. (WRCB) --
Heritage wasted no time taking the first step towards a state championship Wednesday night.

The third-ranked Generals scored early and often opening the Class AAAA state playoffs with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Chamblee Charter School. Heritage won the opener 15-0 in three innings before wrapping up the nightcap 9-1 to advance to next week's second round.

Laura Lawson tossed a one-hitter to win the opener in the circle, while Taylor Moran and Hannah Willis combined on a no-hitter in the nightcap.

The Generals (26-6-1) pounded out 17 hits in game one, scoring ten in the first inning and five more in the second to invoke the mercy rule.

Moran led the way with four hits, including two triples and a double, and four RBI on the day. Savannah Goldsmith added three hits and three RBI.

Heritage advances to face either second-ranked Madison County or Lagrange next week. The Generals would host LaGrange, but would travel to Madison.

North Oconee 3, Ringgold 2
Ringgold 5, North Oconee 0
RINGGOLD, Ga. (WRCB) --
Ringgold bounced back from an opening loss to split a doubleheader with visiting North Oconee and stay alive in the first round of the Class AAA state playoffs.

The top-seed Lady Tigers were pushed to the brink of elimination with a 3-2 loss in the opener, but rallied to win game two by a 5-0 count.

The two teams will play a deciding third game at 2 p.m. ET on Thursday in Ringgold. The winner advances to play Dawson County in next week's second round. Ringgold would host that series, while North Oconee would travel.

Abby McKinney and Brittany Portwood combined on the shutout in the nightcap.

McKinney escaped trouble through five innings, including a bases-loaded jam in the fifth. She put the first two batters on base to start North Oconee's side of the sixth, but Portwood entered in relief to record three straight outs.

Lacy Loy's two-run single in the top of the seventh helped provide the Lady Tigers with some late insurance in the game-two win. Loy also delivered a two-run hit in the opener that gave Ringgold a 2-1 lead, but the Titans scored two in the top of the seventh on an infield single and a bloop single to rally for the win.

McKinney helped herself at the plate with two hits in the nightcap. Aimee Davidson had two hits and an RBI in the game-two victory.

Oconee County 6, LFO 3
LFO 4, Oconee County 1
FORT OGLETHORPE, Ga. (WRCB) --
Lakeview Fort-Oglethorpe rallied from an opening loss to stay alive in the Class AAA state tournament by splitting a doubleheader with visiting Oconee County Thursday night.

The Warriors dropped game one 6-3, but bounced back with a 4-1 win in the nightcap behind the pitching of Cory Elswick and some timely hitting.

LFO pounded out ten hits, but stranded ten runners on base and allowed five unearned runs on four errors in the game-one loss.

After the teams traded runs in the first, LFO used a two-run third to open a 3-1 lead. Beth Posey then laced an RBI-single to left in the top of the sixth to give the Warriors a three-run cushion.

Elswick put the lead-off batter aboard in the bottom half of the inning, but center fielder MaryAnne Morgan threw out the runner at home a few moments later to end the inning and the threat.

Morgan, who also had a diving catch to rob Oconee County of a run earlier in the nightcap, did plenty of damage at the plate, as well. The leadoff hitter finished the doubleheader with six hits and three stolen bases.

The two teams will play a deciding third game at 4 p.m. ET Thursday in Fort Collector. The winner advances to play either Blessed Trinity or Banks County in next week's second round. Those two teams also split a doubleheader to open their best-of-three series Thursday.

LFO would host Banks County, but would have to travel to face  Blessed Trinity.
