UPDATE: Arrest made in E.14th Street homicide


CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Chattanooga Police have charged a man in connection with a murder on East 14th Street.

Police Spokesperson Nathan Hartwig says 34-year-old Shermaine Menifee is charged with first degree murder, aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Police say the victim, 25-year-old Leslie Townsend, was shot in the 2300 block of East 14th Street around 11:20 Monday night.

He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Police believe the victim was sitting in his car when the suspect shot him.
