NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Saturday is the last day for Tennesseans to register to vote by mail.
Post offices will be closed for Columbus Day on Monday, which is also the last day to register to vote in person.
A spokesman for the secretary of state's office said all but two county election offices will be open on Monday to accept last-minute registrations. Only election offices in Lewis and Hickman counties will be closed.
Meanwhile, the Safety Department is opening eight driver service centers on Saturday to issue photo IDs for voters to comply with a new state law requiring them in order to cast ballots.
The offices offering the photo IDs are located in Davidson, Hamilton, Knox, Madison, Putnam, Shelby, Washington and Weakley counties.
