CALHOUN, GA (WRCB) -- Calhoun Police are continuing to investigate an early Friday morning accident that resulted in the death of 25 year-old Charles W. James of Calhoun.

Chief Garry Moss said that 7:35 a.m., officers were dispatched to Victory Dr. in reference to a single vehicle accident.  When they arrived on the scene two minutes later, they discovered James lying near the roadway.

Investigators say that he was riding his Aprilia Motorcycle southbound on Victory Dr. when, for unknown reasons, the motorcycle left the roadway and ejected James.

He and his motorcycle struck a small retaining wall and subsequently came to rest after striking a utility pole.

Gordon EMS responded to provide emergency medical treatment, but James succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

"We will continue our investigation into this matter in an effort to uncover a more definitive answer as to the cause of this accident," said Chief Moss.
