MADISONVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A judge has sentenced a woman to 22 years in prison in the killing of Monroe County election official Jim Miller.
According to The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/SpPgJU ), Jessica Kennedy cried Wednesday as Senior Judge Walter Kurtz announced her sentence. Kurtz said he doesn't believe Kennedy was the leader in Miller's slaying.
Miller was shot in the head three times, and his body was found in the trunk of his burning car on July 17, 2010. Police found his car in a field off the dead end of a county road.
Authorities have said publicly that there are other suspects, but Kennedy is the only person charged so far.
She was convicted Aug. 20 on facilitation charges.
