HAMILTON COUNTY, TN. (WRCB) -- A Sale Creek home was destroyed by fire Monday, after officials say, a lack of hydrants delayed their response to an unattended stove fire. It happened on Dayton Pike around 3:15 p.m.
Hamilton County EMS Spokeswoman Amy Maxwell says Sale Creek firefighters reported about half of the home was engulfed by flames, shortly after they arrived.
She says with no close fire hydrants, fire crews were forced to call for a water tanker and additional fire personnel.
The homeowner, who was not there at the time of the incident, says he thought he extinguished a fire he started in his wood stove earlier in the day.
No injuries were reported.
The official cause of the fire is under investigation.
As the Holiday weekend begins this Thursday, here are some road closures you need to know about.
