UT closes Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity
KNOXVILLE, TN (NEWS SENTINEL) -- University of Tennessee administrators today indefinitely suspended the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity on campus and ordered the Zeta Chapter house on Fraternity Park Drive to be vacated in nine days.
The suspension and closure come on the heels of a reported alcohol enema at the fraternity house last weekend that sent one member to a hospital in critical condition.
University officials today announced that the fraternity has "pleaded guilty to seven specific charges of misconduct related to an underage alcohol consumption incident on September 22 and two charges related to an incident on Aug. 31."
In the Aug. 31 incident, police made an unannounced visit to the house at 1820 Fraternity Park Drive, sending occupants scurrying from the building. Officers found beer cans and bottles and an apparent beer bong in the house.
