Warm through Friday. A few showers?

Posted:

(WRCB) - Enjoy the warmth for a few more days.

Highs will be in the mid 80s through Friday.

A weak front will approach the area from the north slowly over the next few days.  It could prompt one or two light showers this afternoon.

A better chance of rain exists Friday afternoon as the front actually moves through.  No severe weather, just spotty showers.

The front will be to our south by Saturday, so I do not expect much rain this weekend, only a sprinkle or two south of town along the front.

Cooler weather will move in behind the front, starting this weekend.  Highs will be in the upper 70s near 80 (normal this time of year), with lows getting back into the low to mid 50s.

Some showers and storms may redevelop today as a cold front passes through the Tennessee Valley. But don't worry too much, they aren't expected to be widespread or become severe.

Several things are coming together to increase our chances for some severe weather later today.  A warm, humid air mass will interact with unseasonably cool air that will be pushing through today and tomorrow.

We will continue a warm, muggy pattern with highs reaching about 90 degrees.  The heat and humidity will combine with a trough of low pressure to produce one or two thunderstorms.
