Two burglary suspects, third man arrested following police chase
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Two burglary suspects and a third man are behind bars Tuesday, following a police chase downtown.
It began at Main and Fort streets around 10:30 a.m.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Spokeswoman Dalya Qualls says 19-year-old Lawarren Smith sped off after Trooper Steven Bourque stopped him over suspension of an altered license plate.
Qualls says the driver ran several stop signs during the pursuit and one of the suspects was seen by Trooper Bourque throwing a handgun out of the window.
The chase eventually ended on West 12th Street.
Two of the suspects, Smith and 21-year-old Darrell Bridges Jr., had warrants issued for them from Hamilton County for theft over $500 and aggravated burglary.
Smith, Bridges and the third suspect, 23-year-old Marcus Hall, have been charged with felony possession of a weapon with intent to go armed.
Smith also faces charges felony evading arrest, felony possession of an altered license plate, driving on a suspended license, reckless driving, improper passing, violation of traffic control device, driving an unregistered vehicle and no insurance.
Trooper Bourque found the .40 caliber handgun in the 1300 Block of Fort Street.
