Much warmer weather for the second half of the week

Posted:

(WRCB) - Warmer weather will be settling in for the rest of the week, and it looks like we may see some showers this weekend.

High pressure to our south is starting to give us a light southerly breeze that will help temperatures climb into the low 80s this afternoon.  Yesterday we had a crisp high of 74.

That warming trend will continue through the rest of the week with our highs reaching the mid 80s Wednesday through Friday.

Right now, it looks like we may see some scattered showers for the weekend.  A weak front will stall to our north this week, and may slip south into the area on Saturday.  It would not bring us any severe weather, but could bring some showers Saturday, Sunday, and even into Monday.  Stay tuned!

Some showers and storms may redevelop today as a cold front passes through the Tennessee Valley. But don't worry too much, they aren't expected to be widespread or become severe.

Several things are coming together to increase our chances for some severe weather later today.  A warm, humid air mass will interact with unseasonably cool air that will be pushing through today and tomorrow.

We will continue a warm, muggy pattern with highs reaching about 90 degrees.  The heat and humidity will combine with a trough of low pressure to produce one or two thunderstorms.
