SOUTH PITTSBURG, Tenn. (WRCB) -- It was a one-point loss to a likely playoff team in Class 4A, but a 55-54 setback to Signal Mountain dropped South Pittsburg down to No. 2 in the latest Class 1A Associated Press prep poll released Monday.

The Pirates (4-1) had been the state's top-ranked team in Class 1A since the start of the season, but received just three first-place votes after a near miss against the larger Eagles (3-3).

Boyd-Buchanan is No. 1 in Class 2A for a third straight week after beating holding off DCA, 24-17. The Bucs (6-0) received 14 of the 20 possible first-place votes.
