NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Gov. Bill Haslam says he is reviewing data released by the Tennessee Department of Children's Services on the deaths of 31 children.
The department released information on the deaths after repeated requests by The Tennessean and by state Rep. Sherry Jones, D-Nashville. The data showed the department had investigated 31 deaths so far in 2012, including 10 infants who died while their cases were under active investigation.
Haslam told the newspaper (http://tnne.ws/OLDAQB) in an email that he is reviewing the information to get a better understanding of what the numbers mean and how Tennessee ranks with other states.
