CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- Automotive News' web site is reporting Tuesday that Chattanooga-based Volkswagen will add a "crossover" type SUV larger than the small-ish Tiguan to the lineup. The new vehicle is expected to be produced in Chattanooga.
Also listed as possibilities is the return of VW's flagship luxury sedan, the Phaeton, which is expected to be priced well below $70,000. The Phaeton didn't fare well in the U.S. market, as was considered be some to be a rare misstep by Volkswagen.
VW is working to hit their goal of 800,000 vehicles sold in the U.S. markets by 2018, focusing on the Chattanooga-built Passat and the Mexico-built Jetta and Beetle models.
