EPB gives free speed bump to users

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- Residential customers of EPB's high-speed fiber optic Internet service had a welcome surprise when they went online Sunday morning: much faster speeds.

In part of their third anniversary as an Internet provider, EPB's fiber optics division upgraded every one of their residential customer's service at no additional cost.

Customers that had 30 Mbps (megabit per second) now have 50 Mbps; 50 Mbps customers were doubled to 100 Mbps, and those with the 100 Mbps package were upgraded to 250 Mbps.

This is the second time EPB has increased residential speeds without charging additional fees. The first time they did so was in August of 2010, shortly after they unveiled their 1,000 Mbps service, one of the very fastest in the world.
