UPDATE: One dead in Meigs County after argument

MEIGS COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- An argument between two men escalated into a shooting Saturday night that left one man dead and the other in custody.

The Meigs County sheriff's office says Nathan Whitener, 24, and Joshua Smith, 25, got into an argument at Whitener's home on Burketts Chapel Road.

The argument escalated and shots were fired. Whitener died from a gunshot wound.

Smith is charged with second degree murder. He's being held on a $100,000 bond. Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday.
