CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – The top businesses in Chattanooga gathered Thursday night for the Best of the Best awards gala.

The event was hosted by the Chattanooga Times Free Press at the Chattanooga Convention Center. It presented first place awards in categories ranging from best place to throw darts to best TV newscast.

UTC Chancellor Roger Brown received the night's highest honor, Best Chattanoogan, a title previously held by Congressman Zach Wamp and legendary Chattanooga radio personality Luther Masingill.

Channel 3 walked away with three awards Thursday, including Best TV Newscast, Best TV Personality, and Best Weather Forecast. WRCB swept the Best TV Personality category with Cindy Sexton winning 1st place followed by WRCB's Jed Mescon, and WRCB's David Carroll.

Channel 3 radio partner, J-103, was named Best Local Radio Station. Another Channel 3 radio partner, US-101, finished second.

Readers of the newspaper selected the winners in the write-in ballot. In all, Chattanooga Times Free Press president Jason Taylor said tens of thousands of print and online ballots were submitted.
