UPDATE: Deadly boating accident on the Hiwassee River

UPDATE: WRCB has now learned that boating accident victim has been identified as Dale Rose, of Georgetown TN.

MEIGS COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- A holiday weekend trip to the river turned tragic Sunday evening.

Two boats collided near the Hiwassee River bridge on Highway 58.

A Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency spokesman confirms one person was killed in the crash.

No word on how many people were involved in the accident.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
