CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – A Lookout Valley family escapes a house fire Wednesday, but one of their pets wasn't so lucky.

It happened in the 900 Block of O'Grady Drive around 1:30 p.m.

Chattanooga Fire Spokesman Bruce Garner says firefighters were able to contain the blaze to a bedroom.

The residents made it out safely, but one of their two dogs didn't.

Red Cross volunteers are helping the victims.

The home received smoke and heat damage from the flames.

Garner says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
