UPDATE: Murray County officer fired

Posted: Updated:

MURRAY COUNTY, GA. (WRCB) -- The Murray County Sheriff's Office says Deputy Josh Greeson was fired Wednesday, and his shift supervisor, Captain Michael Henderson, has been given a three day suspension for lying to the GBI during a criminal investigation.

The GBI investigation follows the arrest of Angela Garmley on a drug charge. Garmley, who accuses now former Chief Magistrate Judge Bryant Cochran of asking for sex while working on her case, was arrested August 14.

According to the incident report, a drug dog found a magnetic container beneath her car with meth inside.

Charges against Garmley were dismissed last week and GBI investigators say she should never have been arrested.

Cochran resigned two weeks ago, and is also under investigation for pre-signing warrants.

The sheriff's office says a decision on Henderson will be made Friday.
