Bride-to-be goes Over The Edge

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) – Bride-to-be Meredith Lewallen plans to get married October 6 - right after she rappels 280 feet from the top of the SunTrust building in downtown Chattanooga.

Lewallen is participating in Over the Edge (presented by SunTrust Bank) which benefits the local Boy Scouts of America and RiverRocks.

She intends to don a wedding dress supplied by Boutique Couture on the afternoon of October 4, 2012 and descend 20 floors to the bottom where her fiancée, friends, family and future in-laws will be watching.

"I am an adventurous person, and enjoy trying new things," said Lewallen." I have been skydiving, caving, zip lining and bungee jumping. Coordinating events for the Tennessee Aquarium, I have seen first-hand that River Rocks and Boy Scouts of America do a lot of good for Chattanooga. So when I heard about this I wanted to get involved!"

Lewallen's fiancée, Colby Roberts, will not be joining her on the rappel. "He laughed and told me to have fun! He and I have been sky diving and zip lining together but this time he said he prefers to watch from below."

RiverRocks arranged for Lewallen to do her descent on Thursday afternoon, October 4, in advance of the October 5th public rappelling event where up to 70 ‘Edgers' will be taking on the challenge. If you would like to support Meredith's rappel, visit Over The Edge website and use the "Contribute" link to send and Edger Over the Edge box. Meredith is number 14 on the list.

Over the Edge is the signature kickoff event for RiverRocks 2012. The 10 day festival, celebrating Chattanooga outdoors, will feature more than 90 events from October 5th through the 14th. Now in its third year, the festival benefits 8 local land conservancies and is dedicated bringing people together to celebrate the area's natural beauty through sports, music and family fun.

A "Toss Your Boss" challenge is an option and allows employees to contribute tax-deductible gifts and help send their boss Over the Edge. Sponsorships are also available for businesses to get involved.
