Rain/Storms Into Tonight

Posted:

(WRCB) - Through the morning we can expect isolated showers with no severe weather threat.

Later this afternoon into this evening a front will press through that will bring more widespread showers and storms.  The threat of severe weather is low, but we still need to be watchful.

Be prepared for the possibility of some storms during the football games tonight.  They will taper off through the night, and bring in great weather for the weekend.

A dip in the jet stream (River of air in the upper levels that divides cool air to the north from warm air to the south) is dipping southward which means cooler and drier air will prevail for the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday will see highs in the low to mid 80s with plenty of sunshine and lower humidity as well.

Some showers and storms may redevelop today as a cold front passes through the Tennessee Valley. But don't worry too much, they aren't expected to be widespread or become severe.

Several things are coming together to increase our chances for some severe weather later today.  A warm, humid air mass will interact with unseasonably cool air that will be pushing through today and tomorrow.

We will continue a warm, muggy pattern with highs reaching about 90 degrees.  The heat and humidity will combine with a trough of low pressure to produce one or two thunderstorms.
